Chloe's 2nd Birthday Party

I am finally getting around to sharing the photos from little Miss Chloe's 2nd birthday party.  At the start of last year (yes right after she turned 1) I knew instantly that I wanted to do her party in a WINTER WONDERLAND theme in light blues, lavendars and silver colors.  Well at Christmas I found her this shirt that was light blue with snowflakes on it.  Perfect for her day.  So she got the shirt for Christmas, but didn't wear it until this day.
(yes she has her hair spray bottle hooked to her shirt and she was so proud that she was able to figure this out)

For food we decided to make tacos, refried beans and rice.  Since I so HATE to stand there and make homemade taco shells my wonderful husband did it for me.  He also cooked all the taco meat too.  I love that he helps me out for the kids' parties.

We also had nachos.  So I put the nacho cheese in the crock pot and let it heat itself.  Then we decided to put all the taco meat in the new roaster that my mom got us for Christmas this year. I am quickly loving this new addition to our kitchen.  I love that we can cook in it without heating up the entire house to use the oven.  And ours is big, you can make up to a 25 pound turkey in it.  So it was perfect to keep all the taco meat warm throughout the party.

I made this 7 layer bean dip too.  Although it was more like a 5 layer bean dip.  I didn't put any onions on it, and I forgot to get stuff to make quacamole, so it was just beans, sour cream, cheese, tomatoes, and olives.  Oh well it was still very yummy. The bowls that this dip is in were perfect for the party too.  They were clear with light blue snowflakes around the middle of it.  I found those at the Dollar Store.  SCORE.

For the decorations I hung some dollar store foam snowflakes, made a birthday banner to match and hung some after Christmas clerance snowflakes on some branches I spray painted white.
(here is my wonderful hubby cooking the meat and frying the shells)

Here is another view.  I hung the snowflakes from fishing line so it looks like they are floating, or falling snowflakes.  I could not get the branches to stand up so I took a purple blanket, wrapped them around the bottom of the branches and stuck all of that into a large clear jar I had on hand. Held them up and it was perfect.

Jacob made this sign for everyone to see when they walked in.  Everyone got a good laugh out of it.  :)

I was very torn on this one up until the day of the party.  It had been so warm the weeks and days leading up to her party.  I had really wanted to serve hot chocolate at her party, but not in 80 degree weather.  I knew it had been snowing last year at her party (which is rare for us here in southern California, but still cold would have been nice).  So I was very glad when we got up the morning of her party and it was cold and extremely windy.  Well ok not overly thrilled with the wind, but it made it a good day for hot chocolate.
I put out some foam cups for everyone to get at their convience.  I also put out some flavored syrups which I love adding to my hot chocolate.  I had caramel and raspberry.  I also put out some whipped topping in a can.  Because really what is a good cup of hot chocolate without extra whip on top.  I just grabbed a large can of hot chocolate instead of the box of packets and made a large batch on the stove.  If I had another crock pot on hand I would have made it and kept it warm in there.  Also instead of doing all milk, or all water for the mix I did half and half and it was the perfect blend of creaminess.

Ok really this picture shows alot of dirt on our back french doors.  UGH!  Guess that one needs a real deep cleaning in the immediate future for sure.  Im thinking brillo pads for this one.
Since they were french doors and we don't have any blinds or curtains on them it was hard to take a picture of the full banner.  So I got this close up. I just alternated the pennants in light blue and purple.  Then with my silhouette I cut out white snowflakes and when my friend Coree came over the week before she cut out tons of light blue and purple mini snowflakes with a punch for me.  So I just randomly glued them to the pennants.  Then I cut out HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHLOE in silver to add to each one as well. I then glued them in order to fishing line again and it was really that simple.
She got lots of presents all wrapped up in pinks and purples.
It was mostly immediate family and some friends for the party. Some came early, some came late and some came even later.  I love it though that everyone was able to make it when they did.  I love having family and friends over and just to enjoy the day, special occasion or not.

My mother in law is my own personal cake maker.  She makes beautiful cakes and they are so good too.  She makes everything from scratch and they are amazing. I love that she makes them for us.
And miss Chloe loves cake too.

I wasn't sure how many people were coming to the party so I decided to make some cupcakes too.  I had made some cupcake toppers for them just to add more decorations to match the theme.
Now I am not going to lie, these little cupcakes might look all fancy, but I assure you they are not. I did my little cupcake decorating from icing in a can. YEP light blue icing in a can, that would only decorate 12 cupcakes it said AND to top it off I paid about $4.50 for the darn can too.  I know.. and I didn't even have a coupon for it.. Oh the shame...  But I don't own icing tips or anything so it was the next best thing.  I also got the little white sprinkles for added cuteness.

Here they are now all prettied up with the cupcake toppers I made.
I just used a circle punch to cut out a silver circle, used a smaller scalloped circle punch in purple.  I cut out more white snowflakes and glued it all together.  Then I went through my rhinestone collection and found one clear one and some light blue ones. Perfect touch to the center of these.  Then I just glue dotted them onto a clear food pick and wah-lah!

Here is a close up of the cupcake toppers.

It was a great day as always. I love having everyone over to our house for a good time.  The food is always good and the company is even better.  After all the party activities, we all relaxed and the guys all played some games of pool and had a great time.

Now the next party to plan is little Jacob's 7th birthday party. I think last week we finally decided on his theme.  I found a ton of cute ideas for a monster party.  I can't wait to get started on that one..which I need to do NOW. I think I will share some of the cute ideas I have found with you this week.
What is the last party theme you had?

Knorr Pasta Sides

I reaaly just wanted to see how it would work to post from my phone.  :)
So I thought I would share a little.find I.got at Winco today.
These Knorr pasta sides are .88 each. x2 of them would make them $1.76. Then use the -.50/2  coupon and it makes them $1.26/2, which makes them .63 each.
Today I was I'm a hurry and just grabbed these 4 to go with our dinner tonight, but I.will be stocking up on these for sure.

Wood Growth Chart

Oh pinterest how you have done it again to me.  Inspired me to make something.
Funny thing though... this time I actually COMPLETED a project I pinned on there.  :)  I have boards full of inspiration just dying for me to try.  Well this one was super easy and super cheap.

Here are a few of the ones on pinterest I saw and fell in love with.  This wood one I had seen but didn't pin until today for some reason.  (I think I sometimes get excited to click on the picture and check out the blog it came from, then I forget to pin it)
This one came from HERE

This one came from HERE

The first one is a wood version and the second one is cloth or fabric I am assuming.  I knew right away that I liked the wood one so much more and that was the route I wanted to go.
So I had been thinking about it alot lately and finally the other night we took a trip to Home Depot so I could get some wood.
Well for $2.09 I got a fence board.  It was cheaper than a piece of wood the same size.  Cheaper is ALWAYS a good thing.
So we got that, and a few other things for another project that I want to work on this week.
Well when we got home we had no stain so since I am impatient I couldn't wait to go pick some up.  So I thought of a solution.

and of course of all days I want to work on it, it is actually raining and cold here in Southern California.
So I layed out some newspaper across the kitchen table and set the wood on it.
I got out some paints and plastic cups.  I figured stain is sort of like watered down paint..so why not try it myself.  So I had antique white, brown and black.  I poured some in a cup and added water.  Then I would paint it on the board and wipe it off with a paper towel.  I mixed it all around.  Then I thought it was turning out to grey because I had used too much black and white.  So I flipped it over and ended up liking that side less and really liked the first side once it started to dry.
So once I was finished I set it up to dry and got to work with my silhouette.  I cut out numbers 1-6 and then some lines.  I cut the longest lines at 2 inches, then an inch and a half and an inch.  So now I had 3 different sized lines.  I took my husbands tape measure, attatched it to the end of the board and marked every quarter inch, half inch and inch.  Then I glued on the lines and numbers to where I had them marked.

After that I just nailed it right to the wall I wanted it on.

I made the kids get measured right away too.
We still have to measure daddy and Ryan, but we can do that today hopefully.

I think I did want it a bit more brownish in color, but I do still really love how it turned out.  Now no matter where we live, we can take the kids measurements with us, instead of it being stuck on a wall somewhere that we no longer live at.
I think this would be an awesome thing that could get passed down from different generations as well.  I made sure to date it when I measured them as well.  So how cool would it be in 50 years to have other little ones on there, to compare them to.

Now I can't wait to figure out which pinterest project I want to do next.
Have you made alot of your pinterest projects?  How do you record your childs growth?

{m a n t o o t h 3 6 5}   j a n u a r y 2 0 1 2

This little girl cracks me up. Today she decided to put her toast on the kitchen floor and lick the jelly off. I think she learns funny things like this from her mischievious brother Caleb.
Tax season is upon us once again. We have been going to the same tax guys for years. He knows us well. We drop off Jacob's W-2's and he does them within a day and calls us with the results. This year Jacob changed his deductions so we get more throughout the year, which benefits us much more.
Mr Caleb is our sneeky little kiddo. He loves to get back up at night and come sit with us. He says I just love you guys. He usually does something to try to get to stay up, like try to sweep or rub my feet. Tonight he just wanted to eat popcorn and watch a movie on the laptop with us. He didn't last too long though, he was sound asleep shortly after this.
Sunday morning coupon cutting. The boys are always wanting to help me so today I gave them some coupons I wouldn't be needing and let them go to town with the scissors.
One of my favorite things ever is a family night. The babies have been begging for popcorn so tonight Jacob made them some jiffy pop and they thought it was so cool. He also made some in the popcorn machine and they loved that just as much. After this we all snuggled up on the couch (minus Ryan and Marcus because I guess they are too cool for that or something) and put Scooby-Doo on and we all ate popcorn and watched the movie. I ♥ nights like this so much.
For Christmas the 3 littles ones got handmade toy boxes from Grandpa Jim. So today we moved out the huge mess out of their closet, put 2 toyboxes in there and organized them all. We went through every single toy and got rid of all old and broken toys. Now they are all organized and thier room is looking so good. Now if it will only stay that way will be a miracle in itself.
This was tonight at bed time. I love that little Jacob can now read the bed time story to me, Caleb and Chloe each night. He is such a great reader and it is so exciting to hear him read to us and get excited when he does it. Caleb and Chloe love sitting there listening to him read to us.

My little girl is 2 today.

As I type this I cannot even believe what I am typing.  It seems so unreal to me that she is already turning 2  years old.  WOW! Please tell me where in the world did the time go?
I remember the day she was born like it was just yesterday.  I remember getting to the hospital first thing in the morning for my c-section.  Then being in the room before and feeling like it was taking for-ever.  I was so anxious to have her, and see my family again.  It was hard for me to be away from my little men too.  Then having to sit in the surgery area for what seemed like an eternity as well.  They couldn't find my paperwork that I signed for having my tubes tied.  They cannot do it without that documentation for legal reasons.  So at 5am my doctor drove to the office, got the papers and brought them to the hospital with him.  I remember when Jacob finally got to come in the operating room with me.  I remember being so darn scared of the needle in my spin for the numbness.  I remember feeling nothing from my chest down, but feeling them tug her out of my stomach.  That is such a weird feeling.  Then I remember crying when they said she was out.  I remember that night our good friends Coree and Daniel taking pizza to my house for Jacob and the kids and watching the boys so Jacob could come see me and Chloe.  I remember being so upset becuase the boys couldn't come in the room and see me.  I remember finally being able to come home and making our family complete.

She is changing so much each day into an amazing little girl.  She can be so girly with her dolls and purses and she LOVES makeup.  But she is one tough little girl as well, and will often make her brothers cry.

She is turning into a chatterbox.  She repeats everything and has stories to tell all day long.

She is such a daddys girl, and I do mean BIG daddy's girl.  She lights up when she sees, or even hears her daddy's voice for that matter.  I love it so much. I love seeing them together.  He lights up when he sees how excited she gets over him.  It is a bond they will share forever.
She is our little princess and she knows it.  But that is ok, we wouldn't have it any other way.

I thought it would be fun to show a few pictures ...

This is her in the hospital the day after she was born.  OMG look at those cheeks, I want to pinch them.  It seems like it was just days ago she was this small and I was putting millions of bows on her sweet little head, and she left them there too.

I just noticed that she has the same bow on in this picture as the newborn one.  I think I really like that bow.  Well heck who am I kidding, I loved all bows on her head.  Now she just won't keep those kind on.  What a big girl she was here too.  Look she has a bit more hair here too finally.
Look at my beautiful little girl.  Growing up too fast.  This was just the other day, almost 2 years old.  I think that shirt in color was pink too.  After years of all blue, we have lots of pink around here now.  :)

{mantooth 365} - my project life

So this is the 3rd year I am attmepting PROJECT LIFE
I kept falling behind.  Last year I got further but am determined to finish it this year. I have the PL album already that I got on amazon last year for a great price since it was not the current design.
So no excuses this year.. I AM going to try my hardest to get through it this year.
I just love that it captures little tidbits from our family's day to day that doesn't always make it into a scrapbook page.  Well since I never find the time to scrapbook nearly as much as I would like anymore it helps me remember the little things as well.

So I am calling mine {mantooth365}

I thought I would share what I have so far.

{mantooth365} - January 2012
Jacob had to work tonight so he wouldn't be home with us at midnight. So we went to him. I put the kids to bed at normal time, then after he left for work we went out there. We had popcorn and sparkling cider while we were out there. When we got home the kids wanted to sleep in bed with me. So we had a little slumber party in our bed for the night.
Tonight Jacob brought the unused tv in from the garage. He set it up in the corner of the family room, out of the way. Then he hooked up the kids' old VTECH video game for them to use. This way they have their own games to play now. They love it.
This was daddy's first night home from working graveyard shift. The kids are always so excited when he is home at night. It all started when Caleb was chasing daddy around the kitchen and hallway. Then Chloe got started and it turned into a wrestling match on the family room floor. That soon turned into a pillow fight and daddy was even using the couch cushions. Mommy tried to get in there too, but was easily beaten up by all the kiddos. It was alot of fun, and wore me out completely.

We came down to Bass Pro Shop so Jacob could use his gift card he got for Christmas. We always have such a good time down there just looking around at all the cool stuff in the store. The way the store is decorated is just amazing. The kids love riding the elevator to see all the fish in the water. It was a fun day.
This afternoon while playing in the backyard Jacob fell and hurt himself. He kicked the football, his feet came out from under him and he fell really hard on his hip. Since having his hip surgery 2 years ago we were a bit conserned. At first we thought he would just be ok with some rest, but he wasn't getting any better so I had to take him to the ER finally. After waiting there for 6 hours and 40 minutes they saw us for 5 minutes and told us that nothing was broken and we could go home with some pain medicine for him. Hopefully he has a fast recovery, daddy and I both hate seeing him in pain.

This is my trusty coupon binder. I never leave home without it. It is all cleaned out and organized to help save us some big bucks this coming year.

This has become one of my new favorite snacks. It is a few differnt trail mix type things that I mixed all together. I got them each at Winco in the bulk section and then just pour them all into a bowl and enjoy. Each kind has a few differnt things, all of which I really like.

Today was the day for Matt and Amberley's baby shower at our house. I knew when we found out they were expecting that I at least wanted to throw them a family baby shower for all of us family down here. The day was very nice and they got alot of great stuff, including tons of stuff from Chloe. I am so excited for them I can't wait to meet Lily.

Laundry... not something I love doing at all. I have gotten MUCH MUCH better this past year about not letting it pile up too high once it is washed. Now I am trying to be very good about folding it almost as soon as it comes out of the dryer. It seems like this year already it has become my routine to fold it first thing in the morning and get it put away right away. Hope I can stick to this routine.

Oh little Chloe. Full of mischief just like her brother Caleb. I have no idea what she was doing, but she climbed under her tinkerbell table and pulled the chairs in on her. She thought it was pretty funny. She cracks me up. She is becoming one little independent little girl.

It all started last year around this time. The boys had gotten some Legos for Christmas and ever since they have just been nuts for legos. We have several sets and now I need to get a bucket of some kind just to hold all the tiny little pieces. Chloe loves to build stuff now too. They are finally starting to get the hang of just building random stuff with all the pieces and not always having to follow some plan that comes with them. This little fireman guy is their favorite by far.

This is all I have uploaded and journaled so far, but I am not behind at taking my photos.  So I am on track so far.

Are you doing any form of project life this year?  I have seen people do it so many creative ways.  Some do a photo a week, or month, or just random photos each month to sum up that month.  Some do it as a way to document a babys first year or the first year of a married couple.  All of which are great ideas.  I wish I would have done that for each of my kids for their first year.  What an amazing thing that would be to look back on when they get older.

If I get a chance this afternoon I am going to update my albums for this and get the journaling with the pictures.
