Random Ramblings: March 2013

I have wanted a vinyl welcome sign for the front door, since, oh we moved in like almost 4 years ago.
It has been on the "Things I want to make" List.

So I finally said this is it, I am just going to do it.

This is what the front door looked like, before.  Nothing special, just a plain white front door.  But it definitely needed a little sprucing up.

Here it is now.  A nice little pop of color (well not really color but , color as in not white) .

I love the way it looks with the new ferns hanging in the baskets next to the window.

I love the little brackets too.

{ W * E * L * C * O * M * E } to our home.

I found a similar welcome design in the silhouette store, but I didn't like the stars that were in between the letters so I just created my own design.  I just spaced the letters and added a circle in between each letter.  Then I found some brackets that I liked and sized those to the right size too.  I like that the brackets give it a little bit more UMPH, I guess you can say.

Then I just used the transfer paper and then put it right on the front door.  I did have to cut the brackets separately but they were easy to just line up and add those on after the welcome sign.

Before when I had my silhouette SD I didn't really get a chance to work with vinyl.  But now that I have I am  loving it and I can't wait to start making more vinyl projects.  I have a few canvas signs I want to make that I think are going to be next on my to do list. We shall see :)

We always go to my moms for at least lunch on Easter.  This year though, we are going to church first thing in the morning with them and then we are coming back to our house for some lunch.
So after my mom and I decided this, I knew I wanted to make some fun little Eastery things for the table.  So I thought these would be a fun little way to add some Eastery decorations, while at the same time making them the place cards.  There is only going to be a few of us, but it is still fun to do little things like this.

So I went immediately to my Silhouette Cameo for an idea.
I found this cute little bunny box/bag thing.  I figured I was originally going to just write everyones names on the back of the bags.
First I cut them out.  Then I drew on the cute little bunny faces before gluing them together.
Then I decided to just cut out some banner tags to write their names on.
I looped over some twine a few times and tied that into a bow.  I glue doted the twine to the banner and then glue doted that to the bunnies ear.

Then I glue doted a cotton ball to the back to look like a cute little bunny tail.

These were a quick and easy little Easter project that would be fun for even the kids.

I haven't decided what I am putting in them yet, maybe some Easter grass and maybe each persons dyed egg in it.. I don't know, I will just have to play it by ear I think.

Have you made any Easter treats this year?

I am really excited!!  Just this morning I signed up for the Simon Says Stamp Card of the month kit.  I have been wanting to do it for some time now, but was just not completely sure.  That is until I saw the kit for April.  OMG!!!!
Check this kit out!
There is just something about the colors and the little envelopes that just drew me in.  I can't wait to get the kit in the mail and start playing with it.  Then each month from now on I will have a new kit to play with too.
I think it is such a good deal.  The kit is usually $24.99 but if you sign up for the kit each month then it goes down to $19.99 and only $5.99 for shipping.  By signing up for the montly kit it ensures that you will get a kit, and for the lower price.  If you go to the site and just try to order it each month, you are not guaranteed that there will be any left, and you pay the bit of a higher price.

I mean I think it is even worth it just to get a fun new stamp set in the mail each month too..  Look at this months set.  Way too cute.  I love the little banner and the circles, and the little label and I love the font of the  word friendship.  So much to love!!
I am sure some of this will make its way into our project life in some way too.  :)

And honestly who wouldn't love to get fun mail each month?? I know I love going to the mailbox and finding something fun like this, or a nice card from someone, instead of always finding bills and junk mail.

If you haven't even checked out Simon Says Stamps, you really should.  There is tons of stuff I have found that I would love to order from there.

I can't wait to show you what I make with it once it comes too!

Now I will be stalking the mail everyday!

Are you a kit of the month member???  What monthly kit clubs do you belong to?
