Random Ramblings: February 2016

I have followed along with Kendra and her blog Hanging With the Huiess for several years now.  She is an amazing photographer from Texas with two adorable little boys.  You might recall a few years ago I did a guest appearance on her blog talking about Project Life.

Well for a few years now she hosts a Valentines Day Box swap.  You pretty much sign up, she looks through everyone and gives you a partner to shop for.  The person you are shopping for is NOT the person shopping for you.  So then you fill out a little questionnaire  about yourself and what you like and don't like.  Then you mail off your box of goodies and then you also get one in the mail too.

I have seen her talk about if for several years, and on a last minute whim this year I decided why not and joined in on the fun.

So once I got my person assigned to me that I was going to be shopping for I read over her questionnaire and starting thinking of some ideas.

So for the week before I needed to ship out my box I grabbed some things here and there.  Some things were things she specifically said she liked, like carmel chocolate, nail polish and jamberry type nails, and gummy bears and some fruit teas.  I got some other random things for her as well.

A journal, a motion actived bird because I thought it was so fun!, body wash and spray in Cherry Blossom scent,  a little book called Think Positive, bath salts, hand sanitzer, fun Valentines Day socks, a Home plaque in my favorite color, a yummy candle too.

From the moment I read her questionnaire and saw she liked wine and tea, I knew I wanted to also make her a few things.  So I made her a wine glass with her name on it.

I then just added her initial to a mug for her teas.

There was only two requirments for things you had to include in the box you sent. You had to include a card and a love item.  Something that you really love and wanted to share with your box swap girl.

So my love item was a story locket.  It is not an oragomi owl brand, but I have several and love them all.  Since my girl loves to travel and her dog, I included charms that were so fitting to her.

I have to say it was really alot of fun shopping for someone I didn't know.  Fun little box to get in the mail.

Then I got mine in the mail and love it all too.

I got more M's for our M wall.  An M notebook, and a cute little other notebook which I stuck in my purse for when I need to make myself a note, a list or just reminders.  A magnet picture frame, which I stuck on the fridge.  Some raspberry and chocolate, YUM!   A candle that smells so good.  A little heart dish which is so cute and I haven't decided where I am going to put it just yet.  And some hot chocolate which we have not used yet.  Once it gets cold again I have no doubt we will be using it often.

Thank you so much Kendra for putting this together, I can't wait to do it again next year.

Have you ever done anything like this before?  Do you like to send fun surprise boxes in the mail?  Even if you did it for someone you know and just didn't tell them it was coming would be just as fun too.

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and Walmart Family Mobile. All opinions are mine alone. #DataAndAMovie #CollectiveBias

So what do you get your son who is turning 11?   We have really been going back and forth on what to get him.  He has been asking for a cell phone for gosh, I don't even know how long now.  We have always told him no.  1- we thought he was always too young before, and 2- we didn't want to add an extra $100 to our cell phone bill.

When we moved here to Arizona though, he started going to a different school from Caleb and Chloe and becoming much more involved in after school sports. I found myself a few times wishing he had a way to contact me from school about when sports schedules had changed and once he forgot his shirt for Hockey.  So then Jacob and I started talking that maybe, just maybe it was time to get him his own phone, maybe for his 11th birthday.

I started doing some research on possibly doing a plan that is not tied into our current cell phone plan so we don't have all the fees of adding a new line, and having to add another data package.  That is when we found the Walmart Family Mobile Plus.  This is exactly what we were looking for!

The Walmart Family Mobile Plus plan featrues Unlimited Talk, Text and Data which includes up to 10GB of 4G LTE data PLUS a free movie on VUDU ($7 value) every month per line.  All of this for only $49.88 per month.  This is the most amazing value for a plan.  He is 11 so even though we are putting restrictions on how much he can use it because school needs to still be first priority, but we won't have to worry about him going over his data or calls because this plan has everything he needs and then some.  This is even more than our personal cell phone planned combined between Jacob and I.

Plus a free movie every month.  That is so exciting because we usually rent at least one movie on the weekends while we are at home enjoying some family time. Last night we watched our FREE movie on VUDU.  We all pilled into our bed and set up the laptop and relaxed with our movie.  I enjoy this kind of family time so much.  There is  comfort in knowing we are saving money not only on our cell phone plan now, but on renting a movie each month.

Another reason I am so excited about this Walmart Family Mobile Plus plan is because my current cell phone provider gets not so stellar service inside our house.  I mean like none what so ever. There are maybe 2 spots in the house that will occasionally get a text or call, but even if you don't move the phone, it will then often loose that one dot.  So with this service he gets better service than me, so now we may be able to cancel our home phone that we had to get in case of an emergency.  But with having another cell phone that actually works in the house, it will save us even more by canceling our home phone that we never use.

Providing him with this phone will also allow him to stay more connected to family back in California.  It is hard on the kids being away from all their cousins, so now he will be able to call them without the worries of it costing us money on that home phone we never use, or limited time talking on my cell phone when we are out running errands and service works.

So once we decided that this was indeed perfect for what we wanted, we headed to Walmart to pick out the phone we wanted to get for him.

The plan information and phones are found in the Electronic Department at your local Walmart.   Everything you need to get started is right in one spot all together.  This made finding what we needed very easy.

I picked out a phone that I think is perfect for him.  I went with the Samsung Galaxy Core Prime for a super value rollback price of only $79.92.

Jacob loves to listen to music so with this new phone he is able to also listen to music at home while he does his homework.

How would you use your Walmart Family Mobile Plus plan?  When would you use your free VUDU movie each month?

Don't wait! Head to Walmart and get this deal in your hands too!

I am so excited we found this plan that is ending up saving our family money with the low cost plan, the free movie and the ability to cancel our home phone.  What is not to love about that?

Do you have any big plans for today?
Jacob is making us all breakfast right now as I sit here and type this and it smells so delicious!

Then he has to pick up a part real quick for his truck and then replace the brakes.  After that we are going to take the kids to the park.  They have been asking everyday this week and the weather has been beautiful here in Arizona.  So we promised them today we would.
They want to walk and ride their bikes there, and the park isn't very far so I think we might actually do that as well.  :)

Then tonight Jacob is going to make us bbq ribs for dinner.
I have some wood sign orders to work on and other than that we don't have many plans.
To me now as a wife and a mom, my favorite kind of plans are just spending the day with my family.  I love the weekend days when we just spend time together, even if we do nothing but sit on the couch and watch some tv.

Oh and ALSO of course we will be watching The Walking Dead tonight!  YAY! for season returns.

The kids are off school tomorrow too for President's Day - which I plan to stay home the entire day and just work on orders.  I am going to make a big batch of crock pot mac and cheese for me and the kids and enjoy the extra day off.

Well... so much for those plans.  Which is usually how it works around these parts.  Jacob got called to work for an important meeting today.  If the plant manager is calling a last minute meeting for the supervisors something is not good.  So we hurried and ate our breakfast that he made (which of course was delicious), then while he showered and got ready, I ran to the part store to pick up his break rotars that were ready.  He put them on so fast and headed out to work.

I am about to clean up the kitchen and then as soon as he gets home we are going to walk to the park.  No one got to open their little gifts yet, we will do that too as soon as Jacob gets home.

I just hope he isn't stuck out at work too long so we can still enjoy a nice relaxing rest of the day.

Happy Valentines Day to you and your family.

I am so excited to become a YOUNIQUE presenter.

I was first drawn in my this amazing 3D Lash Mascara.  I mean WOW!! Just look at this transformation of my eyes.

TOP : no makeup
MIDDE : just the right eye in the picture has the mascara

BOTTOM : both eyes done with the mascara

There are so many products that I am already so in love with.  Anyone that has known me over the years, knows I have not been a huge makeup person.  I buy the cheap stuff and it takes me 10 mintues to get completely ready for the day.  So you have to know that if I am so over the top in love with this makeup, this company and these products it must mean I LOVE it that much!

I have been using the moisturizer and my face has never been so soft in my life.  The primer - OMG I will never wear makeup again without it!

I am just telling you I love this makeup so much, well not just the makeup, all the products!

Now let me tell you a little about YOUNIQUE, which makes me love the company even more.

  • The products are long wearing, and they really do last all day.
  • Not tested on animals
  • No chemicals
  • The Younique Foundation which offers a healing retreat free of charge to any adult woman who was sexually abused as a child.

I am looking forward to this adventure with the amazing company.
